In a nutshell?
Because we believe that better people make better players and that better players make better people, we put everything into creating the most challenging and caring environment in world football. We’re here to produce young men who are equipped to take on and excel in the face of any challenge that life presents them: on and off the grass. That is the definition of a Strong Young Gunner and it sits at the centre of everything we do.

Identifying recruiting and, most importantly, developing young players and people is central to our football strategy at Arsenal Football Club.
I firmly believe that the Strong Young Gunners philosophy of ‘better people make better players’ is such a strong foundation for our young players. Our goal is to produce young players who will play for and enhance our first team and the club: on and off the grass. This creates a special connection with the club and our supporters: both key elements to success.
We will be brave and our aim is always to give young players with the required ability and attitude opportunities in the first team.

Our Academy at Arsenal is renowned across the game for producing outstanding footballers and fine young men.
My message to every Academy Player is this: Be proud to wear this iconic club badge. Work hard every day. Listen to your coaches and be respectful to yourself and everyone around you.
And always be humble enough to know that however talented you are, you can always improve and always outwork your talent. Do all these things and you are giving yourself the best opportunity to have a great career.
